All About Quality

26th June 2008

We have started a new project all about quality. We are looking at the places where people live and how they are supported. We are looking at how good Person Centred Reveiws are, and the difference that they can make to people's lives.

Project workers, Dan, Kerry, Sally and Anwar organised "How was it for you at your reveiw?" - a series of 3 workshops for people with learning disabilities acroos Dorset. Everybody took part and got involved and we hope it will make reveiws better in future. The things people said will go into a report. Dan and Kerry are working on this at the moment.

Training for Custody Officers

June 20th 2009

Elizabeth, Helen and Clare have been training all of the Detention Officers from the police custody suites in Weymouth, Poole and Bournemouth.

A custody suite is where people are taken after they have been arrested. Detention Officers look after people when they arrive, make sure they are safe, and do lots of other things like taking fingerprints and DNA samples.

We thought it was really important that the officers know all about learning disability, and the different ways that they can communicate with people to make their time in custody less stressful.
