Dorset's Self Advocacy Groups
Brainstormers (Whitehouse Centre, Sherborne)
Things we say are confidential. Sometimes we have parties and days out. We learn things, we watch videos, and have a general good chat with our friends.
Seagulls (Weymouth) Click here to see their website
We have been given some lottery money to make a website that will help to give people information. We also want to make videos about solving people's problems.
Bridporters (Bridport)
Hello, we are a group of people who meet every month to talk about the things that are important to us.... like living independently, transport costs, our health and jobs.
We raise money for our group by doing a sponsored walk every September. We also got some money from West Dorset Mencap to help us pay for the room where we meet in Bridport.
The Bridporters also enjoy going out for a meal and playing skittles.
Millers (Sturminster Newton)
We have gone back to the basics of what Self Advocacy is all about and spent a meeting talking about ourselves and finding out what others think about us. We spoke about what we want in the future.
Wareham Group
We have had to stop meeting at the moment, because our volunteers are no longer able to support us to run meetings. If you think you could help out by volunteering, contact Sally at Dorset People First.
